Expand Your Environment, Remove Your Limitations
▶TLDR
- Your environment quietly sets the ceiling on how you think and act.
- Most limits are self-imposed and worth questioning.
- You grow when you stop being the bottleneck and start handing work off.
Where you spend your time shapes what you believe is possible. On The Resourceful Agent Radio Show with Andy Silvius, I talked about expanding your environment and removing the limits you've put on yourself, often without noticing.
This matters for anyone running a business, and it hits home for agents and owners who wear every hat. The ceiling you feel is usually made of habits, not facts.
Your environment sets your ceiling
Who you talk to, what you read, the rooms you sit in: all of it sets a quiet baseline for what feels normal. If everyone around you plays small, playing bigger feels reckless. Change the room and the ceiling moves.
Most limitations are self-imposed. The price you're scared to charge, the help you won't ask for, the goal you won't say out loud. Question them one at a time. A lot of them fall apart the moment you look straight at them.
Stop being the bottleneck
The biggest limit for most owners is themselves. Everything runs through you, so nothing grows past you. The fix is to hand work off before you feel ready.
Start rough. Record quick Looms of how you do a task instead of writing a perfect manual. Bucket your work into groups, find the bucket that drains you most, and hire against that first. You're not looking for a unicorn who does everything. You're looking to get one painful thing off your plate at a time. I go deeper on that in this piece on rebuilding a team and curing back-office blues.
The Resourceful Agent Radio Show
The Resourceful Agent Radio Show is hosted by Andy Silvius, a full-time realtor who started the show around real estate, business, and personal growth and has grown it into longer, question-everything conversations. It's built for agents and entrepreneurs who want to think bigger about how they work.
