Why a Short Personal Video Beats a Cold Pitch
TLDR
- A short personal video builds trust faster than a written pitch because people can see you mean it.
- Keep it specific to one person and one problem, not a generic sales reel.
I joined Tom Poland on Leadsology to talk about generating better leads with video. The headline is that it can take about seven minutes. The real point is that video shortens the distance between a stranger and a conversation.
Why video earns trust faster
A written cold message asks someone to imagine who you are. A short video shows them. Tone, effort, the fact that you used their name and referenced their actual situation, all of that lands in a way text cannot. It is harder to ignore and easier to trust, so more people reply.
How to make one that gets a reply
Keep it to one person and one problem. Say their name, name the specific thing you noticed, offer one useful idea, and make a small ask. Do not perform. A plain, specific, thirty to ninety second video from a real person outperforms a polished generic reel every time. The goal is a reply, not applause.
