Building a Business You Can Run From Anywhere

TLDR
- Location freedom comes from how you build the business, not where you sit.
- A simple offer and a remote team make the work travel with you.
- Freedom is a byproduct of good pricing and good client fit, not endless hustle.
Freedom to work from anywhere sounds like a lifestyle choice. It's mostly a design choice. On the Global Citizen Life Podcast with Sally Pederson, I talked about how I built a business I can run from a different city each month, with a remote team and my cat along for the ride.
In one year I worked from 38 cities across 10 countries. That's not because I hustled harder. It's because I set the business up to travel with me.
Design the business to travel with you
A business that needs you in one place will always keep you in one place. So I built mine to run without me sitting on top of it. A remote team, clear processes, and simple ways of working mean the work doesn't stop when I move.
The key is to hand things off. Record rough Looms instead of perfect manuals, bucket your tasks, and hire against the one that drains you most. Once the day-to-day isn't riding on you, your calendar and your location open up.
Freedom comes from pricing and fit
Location freedom isn't about squeezing more hours out of yourself. It's about needing fewer, better clients. That comes down to two things: charging enough and choosing the right people to work with.
Most owners undercharge by about half and take on more work to cover it, which chains them to the desk. Charge for the problem you solve, work only with good-fit clients, and the whole thing gets lighter. For more of the nomad side, here's a conversation on digital nomad lifestyles.
