Navigating the Solo Journey: Insights and Resources for the Independent Entrepreneur

I used ChatGPT today for the first time.

training Apr 18, 2024

It wasn't the first time I had logged on and asked the future overlord something, but it was the first time I used it for strategic work.

Context: I will be recording an online course next week titled 'How to Get Booked as a Guest on Podcasts' (until I can find a sexier name). Last month, I recorded a workshop that covered the process, but I wasn't 100% sure how to structure the material into an actual course.

So, I asked the robot. Yes, I recorded it (watch here)

Here are my biggest takeaways:

  • The incredible speed and accuracy of the first draft blew me away. It produced 10 modules with 3 sections in each. Each module was built upon the last, and the structure was very detailed and practical.
  • Providing it with more content and written materials seemed to improve the outputs. For example, I asked it to think like an online course expert and also provided a long-form article that I wrote about getting booked on podcasts. The second version of the outline, with this additional context, provided much more concise and useful points.
  • Asking for an expansion of the strategies fell flat. I only tried it with a few points, but its ability to contextually provide deep strategy resulted in content that was similar to those generic marketing blog posts we all hate.

As I edit the structure of this course, I will find out how much of the outline material can be used in my recording. There is no doubt that the outline from ChatGPT saved 45-90 minutes of research and guesswork on how to structure the course.
